2003 – 2014 – Barbara is producing a body of work that incorporates a variety of her art making over the last twenty-five years: landscape, figurative, still life, newspaper and textual paintings. Titled Birthmarks/Landmarks, an exhibition of this work will be shown in 2014. Two large paintings (portraits) will face each other (on opposite walls) in a large gallery, connected by groups of smaller newspaper paintings on the gallery's four walls. These small paintings are works in progress and will reflect the cultural, political and social events, in Canada and around the world from 1914 to 2014, that influenced three generations of Barbara's family. This project began with an Individual Creation Grant from The Department of Tourism and Culture (Nova Scotia) – January 15, 2003 Below are a few of the small newspaper, mixed media paintings.
