The whiteness of this painting makes us recall the colour used by some old artists in depicting the clouds of the Lord's Glory. A. Cetín's Resurrection contains a scene which "speaks", at the same time, to our eyes, our souls and our nerves.
Contrary to the whiteness which is a basic fortification of crosses on which the names are a kind of warning that we are deeply concerned with this human tragedy (even Eve's name is engraved on one cross), the former city of Vukovar is taken by the ferocity of fire. Fire is a destructive but also purifying force. That fire is a real catharsis. (.....)
Over the city is a black and monolithic stratum of smoke-blackness which isolates the city from the clearness of the sky, but the strong growth of Cetin's Eve, her blissful and peaceful face, so open to the Heavens, elevates the very centre of the destroyed city to the higher and more lasting purposes of life. The bird of peace rests calmly on Eve's face and so both Eve and the bird are completely liberated from the fears and horrors of the destroyed city in which reigned the multiple faces of death. (.....)
